Hello,Please allow me to introduce myself to you. My name is Shelley Marsh Rice and I am a professional photographer. I am an active member of TPPA and PPA. I continue my education with schools, seminars and conferences. I am an avid gardener and a founding member of the Lea County Master Gardening Program.
My husband (Jimmie) and I have been married for 26 years. We have one daughter (Kyla) who is 17 years old. We have lived on The Rosebud Ranch outside of Lovington New Mexico, for 25 years now. The horses we raise are for roping or rodeo, with the exception of one show horse that Kyla has trained.
I have been in Lea County most of my life. My family has been in the oil field for years, and my husband still is. I worked in the oil field for a number of years, but I have always been artistically inclined. I have entered many phases of art, but in 1987 I got a 35mm camera that was one of the most awesome tools I'd ever seen. I finally had a means to do serious photography.
I realized one day that my heart was in photography and I was not happy working in the oilfield. I made the decision to turn pro in 1999 and began working on the game plan to get there. I have opened a studio on our ranch. The only regret I have is I wished I had started a lot earlier in my life. I know waiting to have a child later in life has made a better parent perhaps the same will be true for my photography.
